He said that Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan issued strict directives in a meeting to deploy large contingents of police at key places, shopping centers, main markets for public safety at New Year's night. The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yaseen Farooq and SSP (Traffic) Islamabad Dr Moeen Masood and other senior officials of police, he said.
The official said that strict directives have been issued to all the Police Stations to ensure fool proof security arrangements in their respective areas, while over 500 cops will perform duties in various areas. SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq directed all SHOs to maintain close co-ordination with other police wings for ensuring elaborate security. Special police deployment will also be ensured at Blue Area, Super Market, Jinnah Super Market, sectors F-10 and F-11, Faizabad, Aabpara market, while police reserves would remain stand by for assistance in case of any untoward situation.
He said that SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood had also constituted special squads to maintain smooth flow of traffic in the capital. He also directed staffers to take strict action against "one-wheeling and racing". He said that more than 400 traffic policemen headed by Zonal DSPs, Inspectors and beat officers, would be deployed in the entire district. Special traffic police squads would also keep patrolling to curb one-wheeling and racing practices.
